Terms of service

Last updated: September 12, 2026

These terms govern your use of PlateWatch, including platewatch.io and getplatewatch.com. By using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

What PlateWatch is

PlateWatch is an independent tool that collects public EPA compliance and enforcement records for US electroplating and metal-finishing facilities and sends alerts about changes to them. The underlying records come from EPA ECHO, a public government database.

No affiliation, no legal advice

PlateWatch is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or any government body. The information provided is for general awareness and is not legal, regulatory, or compliance advice. Always confirm anything that matters against the official EPA record and, where needed, a qualified professional.

Accuracy of data

We work to reflect EPA ECHO accurately and refresh weekly, but we do not control the source data and cannot guarantee it is complete, current, or error free. Records may lag, change, or be corrected by EPA at any time. You use the information at your own discretion.

Accounts and alerts

  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the email address and facility selections you provide.
  • Alerts are provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee that every event will be captured or delivered on a specific schedule.
  • You may unsubscribe from alerts at any time using the link in any alert email.

Purchases and billing

  • Some purchases are one-time, such as a compliance report. Subscription plans are billed monthly in US dollars through our payment processor, Stripe.
  • Subscription plans renew automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and cancellation stops the next renewal.
  • Because subscription plans are month to month, we do not provide partial-month refunds unless required by law. If something goes wrong on our end, contact us and we will make it right.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the service. That includes attempting to break, overload, or scrape the service in bulk, reselling access without permission, or using the data to harass any business or person. You may watch any facility, including a competitor's, for lawful business purposes.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, PlateWatch is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decision made in reliance on the information provided. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Changes to the service or these terms

We may change or discontinue features, and we may update these terms. If we make a significant change, we will update the date above and, for account holders, let you know by email. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
